And done…

Sup-Her (the second draft) is done.

I just got in another thousand or so words in the epilogue trying to tie off a number of loose threads. Not all loose threads mind you, but enough.

Boy is this thing ugly. I havent checked my word count in a while not done any kind of editing so that is what is going to come next. Just not today.

Sup-Her, the final chapter

Okay so when I did my first draft of the book, back during Nanowrimo of 2015, I didn’t actually finish it. I got my 50+k words in and got down about 90% of the storyline. So now, what was originally around 2k in size, is now approaching 10+k.

Needless to say I’m still working on it. Going to San Diego and Comic-Con didn’t help much, though it didn’t hurt any either 🙂

Yesterday was Legoland

I had never been there before. The wife and I brought our, nine and five-year-old, kids who had an OH MY GOD SO EFFIN SLOW time with all the attractions in the park.

We got through maybe a third of the place.

What is it with having everyone NOT going to the bathroom at the same time? At the end of every other ride, I would ask the kids “bathroom break?” before getting on the next ride. My older daughter got the idea but my broken son didn’t. After leaving the restrooms and getting in the lines for the next ride, once we reached to end of the line and were about ready to board the thing, he would start grabbing his crotch and complaining about needing to go right then and there. Even though he wasn’t born premature I could swear the kid wasn’t done baking and could have used about 18 more years in the oven.

The twin four-year-olds we were with had better control over themselves.

Now before you go questioning if there is a medical issue I can assure you there isn’t. Well…. any issue there might be is purely mental (from his mother’s side).

Rating of Legoland California, of the 1/3 I saw of the park, would be 4 out of 5 stars.

Comic con Update 1

Hello anybody,

I got on the bus successfully and it got me exactly where I needed to go.

I got to the downtown station and saw a green line train getting ready to leave the station. I jumped on board not realizing until after it had departed that it was going the opposite direction. Next stop over I corrected my direction situation with *little issue.

The nerds!

The train is crammed full so much so that I have *little room to even breath. I’m going to guess I’m going in the right direction this time.

Ploting your book – the hook

So when grabbing the attention of your readers, the earlier the better seems to be the goal. Ideally, you want to do it in your first line. My question though is do you want “a hook” or “the hook”?

Think about that. I mean ideally you would want the best hook possible but again, think about my question.

I’m still tinkering with the backstory/worldbuilding with my sup-her novel and have, at least what i would like to believe, as the hook. Still, would a hook work just as well? I know, promise to the reader and all, but what if it’s a cousin like hook that you use to grab their attention? I’m going to have to devote a few brains cells to this.

Day 23 ~ Done-ish

Okay, so this chapter is around 80% new which meant I did lots of deleting.

I did about 1,200 today which brings this ‘original Nano days’ re-working to 5,400. It has several scene splits in it which will be mixed around into various chapters depending on the timeline cleanup and overall flow.

There is more I can add but I’m not going to do it. I need to get to the ‘Punch-Line’ and stop trying to dallying around so much.

I am now at the last little bit of original story.
