– “Joy left the World” –

The Pitch: Joy married for love. She eloped just after dropping out of high school with the man that she intended to spend the rest of her life with. Then she got pregnant and things got serious. Her husband enlisted in the military so they would have some means of supporting themselves. Just after he left for boot camp she ended up suffering a miscarriage. Today is different. She finds herself awaking in the front seat of her car to a cold and overcast world with an empty bottle on her lap. She is seriously contemplating leaving the man that no longer resembles her husband. Over the past eight years their love had always remained strong but the man who came home six months ago after being seriously wounded is but a shadow of his former self. Today is a new day, today is the beginning of the end of everything she holds dear. As she sits there sulking she has no idea that the overcast skies are being caused by something not of this world and just how little time she has left in order to make sense of it all. She now has to make peace with herself if she is to have any chance of surviving the impending apocalypse from above.

I started the first draft in late December of 2013 and finished it in late February 2014. It came in around 60,000 words.

The second draft has yet to be started.
