More day 20 done

45 minutes and I got another 900 words in.

The sad part is I now have to head outside and start some yard work before the day gets too hot. Yes, I have the day off from work but that doesn’t mean its “ME” time. It’s “honey-do” time.

🙁

And then I’m free to say “Yes”

I know I’m a contradictory bastard.

I get on the train home and get in another 45 minutes or so in writing, which puts me at roughly 2.5 hours for the day, and am sitting at 2,300 words. Quick mind math puts that at about 900 words an hour. Now to open up the calculator application and check… and its “920”. Yippie!

I’m not a speed freak but that is decent numbers.

I love my kids but sometimes I wish I could just have a day to myself and not feel like I’m getting pulled in a million directions at once.

and going off topic….

Last night after dinner I snuck off to drop the kids off in the pool (taking a dump) when not even five minutes later I hear the wife yelling my name from somewhere in the house. Really? Do you need to bother me that badly? I think what I’m getting at in both my “YES” and my “NO” posts today is that everyone needs some downtime in order to have uptime.

Ying, meet Yang.

Sometimes the answer is “No”

So I woke up and hour early today and with the intent of doing some writing.

My train ride takes roughly an hour. Subtracting out the time to walk from the Starbucks to work, which is right next to the station, I got just under two hours in of writing.

I’ve had a few chances to write today but haven’t found the motivation to really do it.

Isn’t just under two hours enough? Do I have to write more if time should present itself? I believe my lack of additional output has already answered this question.

I am allowed to be a slug (at times).

I am giving myself permission to not be all that I can be.

I am after all… only human.

A few days ago I posted something in an online writing Facebook group about trying to get a local writing group together early on Saturday mornings. I suggested somewhere in the 7-10 am range. Very quickly one person, an elderly person mind you, said “I don’t start my day until after 10am.” Really? I thought old(er) people love getting up early? I don’t enjoy getting up early but its the only me time I get so I’ve come to kind of enjoy it.

Life… one big joke.

Update…

Today is July 7th. I had a busy weekend and haven’t gotten much writing done. That being said I’m now on Sup-Her “day 20” and am throwing out more and more of the previous stuff in order to make the new ending match up better with how things have been straying from the first draft. It takes time but I’m still plugging away.

Is the above underlined sentence hard to read? Oh well…

🙂

Sup-Her – Day 18 – Sexy Time

I just wrote my first blowjob scene involving a side character and the “service professional” he just hired. I don’t want to give too much away as he already did. (RIMSHOT!)

Oh, I’m bad.

I need to be spanked.

Anyway… The first draft was 900 words and this one came in at 1300+. That seems to fit my +50% bigger ratio. (THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!)

I would love to share it here but it gives away too much of the later plot that I’m trying to keep a bit under wraps. (But it keeps poking upward.)

Moving on…. right now ColdPlay is on the radio and their song “Clocks” is playing. I’m sure some of you have those songs that really mean something to you or stand out in your lives. This is one of mine. It is one of those types of songs where I just close my eyes and turn up the volume and lose myself within it.

I don’t even really like ColdPlay all that much. I mean I enjoy some of their songs but this one just “Pushes all the right buttons in me.” You could even call it one of my “Barry White” songs.

But(t) anyway, that’s it for now.

Sup-Her Day 17 is mostly done.

Man, I gutted a lot out of this one. I have yet to run it through a spell checker or anything but that’s small potatoes to just getting it out.

🙂

This was also the first chapter in a long while to actually shrink in overall size. It went from 4,000 down to 3,700 words. It’s not much of a shrink but still worth mentioning.

Day 13 re-done

So…my first draft of day 13 had 950 words. My second draft had 1800 words. My next pass had, get this, 2600 words. The sad part is I felt like I was tossing out gobs of stuff. Well, I was. It’s just the stuff I was tossing out didn’t have the right direction I wanted the story to go.

Now to get back to day 17 🙂

Day 17 leads back to day 13

Okay so I’m rewriting day 17 and I get this nagging feeling in my gut that tells me something is wrong. I pause in my writing and go back through my excel sheet to realize that I need to redo day 13 again as I hadn’t set up the hidden ‘end of book’ reveal the way I wanted to.

Good endings need to be present yet nested throughout the entire story.

Now I just need to figure out the ‘how to be a good author’ part and everything should be peachy.
