**Ugly** 1st draft of Sup-Her
I came up with a loose outline back in July of 2015 and this is from that. Obviously it is going to have to go through a couple of revisions and continuity checks but aside from that here is my first UGLY DRAFT.
Sup-Her – November 1st 2015
Chapter 1
“Dad!”
Kevin jerked his head in the direction of his daughter’s screaming. His eyes blinked feverously to focus in on her but couldn’t find her. There was so much dust in the air that had he still not felt the force of gravity upon him he wouldn’t know which way was up. “Where are you Becca?”
“I found her!”
He was confused but also relieved by her tone for she sounded in control. “Who’d you find?”
“She’s not moving.”
“Don’t touch-”
She screamed “Dad!”
He started running towards where he thought she was. The ground was uneven and he came close to landing face first into the ash scarred ground as he continued fighting his way towards her.
“She’s breathing.”
“She can still harm you.”
“She wouldn’t do-” Her daughter then screamed as two red beams of blinked into exitance not far ahead of him. Kevin had seen enough news reports to know what had happened. Sup-Her had used her heat vision and from the sound of things it might have just struck his daughter. “Becca! Are you alright?”
“Yeah dad. She just missed me.”
Kevin could now see the outline of his daughter through the haze and could see she was favoring her right arm in her left hand. “What happened?”
Twirling and facing her father, “She missed me but only barely.”
Grabbing ahold of his daughter shirt and yanking, “We have to get out of here.”
Becca stumbled at first but then realizing what he was doing dug her heels in. “She needs our help.”
“She almost killed you and without even trying. She is dangerous. Shrapnel is still falling out of the sky. It’s not safe.”
“Dad I ain’t going.”
“Yes you are.” Kevin reached out again and starting yanking again only Becca lifted her heavy boot and brought it down onto his own. The force of the blow wasn’t enough to harm either of them through the boots thickness but its message carried over as intended. He released his gripe of the back of her shirt. “This is dangerous stuff you are messing with here.”
“She needs us.”
“She can take care of herself.”
“Not this time.”
“How can you tell.”
Becca faced her father with eyes that echoed of her mothers, “Woman’s intuition.”
Kevin wanted to laugh in her face. Becca was but sixteen years of age. What did she know of woman’s intuition. Only the eyes that bore into him where not those of his sixteen year old baby but those of a woman who knew where her place was and it wasn’t listening to her old father. “You are your mother, you know that?”
She grinned, “That might the be only reason you are still alive. You can be a real ass at times you know.”
“That is no way-” Another piece of debri landed through the haze not far from where they were standing.
Becca shouted, “Help me get her up.”
“Then what?”
“We get her onto your tractor.”
“Then what?”
“I haven’t come up what’s after that.”
“The Feds are going to be all over this place looking for her in a matter of hours.”
“I know. I will come up with something.”

“What about my field? It’s a total loss! Who is going to pay for my lost crop?”
Agent Jeffers reached up and wiggled a finger into the knot of his tie, “You will be compensated for the area damaged-”
“No. I will be compensated for the entire crop. You are going to have your monkey suit goons going to be tripping through my fields for weeks with your electronic do-dads for weeks to come. You are going to prevent me from harvesting any of my fields as you look for remains-” Kevin made the symbol of the cross on his chest “and debri. Tell me i’m wrong.”
Agent Jeffers gave a nod of amission, “You will be compensated for your entire crop.”
“Damn straight.”
Agent Jeffers PDA gave a buz and he glanced down at it. He gave a twisted grin and then looked over at Kevin. “My men are at the library. Your daughter isn’t there. Now I don’t mean to be unpleasant but we need to know where she is.”
Kevin felt his stomach drop. “I told you she told me she was going to do homework. I know she had some big report that was due. Are you telling me she isn’t there?” Reaching his hand out, “Can I use your phone to call her?”
Agent Jeffers smiled and called out, “Agent Daniels.”
A man who was also wearing a suit who was passing by paused and faced agent Jeffers, “Yeah boss?”
“Mr Walker here needs to use a phone. He wants to make contact with his daughter.”
The man gave a nod slow nod. “I will bring something over.”
Agent Jeffers smiled, “It will only be another moment.” Kevin wiped the sweat from his brow. Agent smith asked seeming to have found it telling, “Are you okay?”
Kevin snapped back, “I don’t know you tell me. I just had a jet explode over my farm and reign down chared remains of god knows what. On top of that some federal suits show up and inform me my daughter isn’t where she is supposed to be. Yeah I’m a little bit unsettled right now.”
Agent Jeffers gave a smile, “My appologies. It is times like these where I sometimes question if I might have been in my type of work longer than I should have been.”
“And what exactly is that type of work?”
Agent Jeffers smiled, “Cleaning up messes.”
Kevin gave a nervoius laugh, “Why do I get the feeling that is the most honest thing you have said to me since showing up?”
Agent Daniels came back over holding what looked like a brick phone. He extended it out towards Kevin as Kevin took it while saying doobiously, “This thing looks like it’s from the 1980’s.”
Agent Jeffers smiled back, “Exactly, its so outdated that nobody even looks to intercept them anymore.”
Kevin eyed the agent and then asked not because he wanted to but because he had to remain in character. “Is there something nefarious going on here that I should know about? My daughter is missing afterall.”
Agent Jeffers smiled, “You are pretty quick for a farmer. I shouldn’t say but honestly it wont take long for one of the news networks to piece it all together. ‘Sup-Her’ was involved.”
“Sup-Her? I thought she retired or something?” Kevin could see how agent Jeffers was
watching his reaction but not seeming to reveal much in the way of emotions himself. “Didn’t she lose her kid or something?”
Agent Jeffers just nodded, “Yes, that was the rumors. Which makes her sudden reappearance all the more intreging.” He pointed at the brick phone, “You were about to call your own daughter?”
Kevin winced as he had seemed to have forgotten about the safety of his own daughter so easily. He started dialing her number when he heard another one of the agents call out, “Car approaching from the West.”
Agent Jeffers twirled to get a better look at the same time as Kevin. Agent Jeffers asked, “I believe that is your daughters car, an orange Ford Escort.”
Kevin felt his stomach tighten. The bastard knew Becca’s car. “How did you know?”
Agent Jeffers just smiled back in silence the entire time Becca made her way down the length of the driveway and through the circus of vans, sedans, and buses that were now parked all about her driveway. Kevin took note of how Becca picked up speed as if she was afraid something might have happened to her father. He waived out to her and she waived back with a mix of joy and confusion on her face. She parked her car and started to make her way over. “Dad are you okay?”
He nodded back. She glanced around at the scene and asked, “What happened here?”
Agent Jeffers was already walking towards Becca and flashing a badge, “Hello Rebecca Walker, my name is Agent Jeffers and I am with DOMA.”
Her face contorted, “Defense of Marriage Act?”
Agent Jeffers smiled back, “No, the Department of Meta Affairs. I need to know where you have been these last few hours.”
She looked over towards her father, “Dad?”
Kevin nodded towards the wreckage around them, “There has been an accident Becca. They are here to find out what happened.”
Agent Jefferes turned to face Kevin, “That you Mr Walker but please refrain from saying anything further while I question your daughter. Failure to comply with this directive is not advised. Having to do any additional paperwork might cause additional delays in processing your monetary compensation. I would hate for you to go lose the farm as you are awaiting your check.”
Any sense of admiration Kevin might have had for the man evaporated right then and there.
Becca said, “What do you want from me?”
“I just need to know where you have been since around noon today?”
“I was doing schoolwork.”
Agent Jeffers grinned, “Don’t lie to me Miss Walker. There is no record of you showing up at the school library today.”
The look on Becca’s face told Kevin she had him exactly where she wanted him. “I never said I went to the library. Are you deaf? I said I was doing schoolwork.”
Agent Jeffers blinked, “So where were you then and can you acount for your activities?”
“I was working on my bug collection for my biology class.”
Agent Jeffers looked past her towards Becca’s car, “So the collection is in your vehicle?” He started walking towards it.
“Yeah it’s in the back. Don’t touch it. I don’t want you ruining-”
Agent Jeffers opened the back door and pulled out a wooden viewing box and placed it upon top of the cars trunk. “So must have fresh specimines, point them out.”
Becca walked over and stood next to Agent Jeffers, “Actually no, I couldn’t catch a BUGNAMEOFGEORGIA.” She then turned back towards her father, “I don’t understand what my bug collection has to do what happened here?”
Agent Jeffers replied, “An aircraft went down on your farm under mysterous cicumstances. We are here to find out what happened and if you played any part in covering up what might have happened.”
“Dad?”
“Just answer his questions best as you can Becca.”
